This wonderful old map of Hollywood was originally published in 1956. It was created by an anonymous mapmaker.A rather interesting map of Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and Bel-Air that guides you right to the doorstep of just about every famous Hollywood star of the 1950s - thus the name of the map, "Starland".The map shows you the location of hundreds of Hollywood stars, including Walt Disney, Marilyn Monroe, Shirley Temple, James Stewart and a couple of the Warner bros (Jack and Harry).The map also includes the addresses of some prominent nightclubs at the time, premiere theatres, and film studios.This map looks great at all sizes: 12x16in (30.5x41cm), 16x20in (40.5x51cm), 18x24in (45.5x61cm), 24x36in (61x91.5cm), 32x40in (81.5x102cm), 40x50in (102x127cm), 48x60in (122x153cm) and 56x70in (142x178cm), but it looks even better when printed large.I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 100in (254cm). But ifyou just want to cut to the chase, and find out what there is to do onthe Boulevard, then you've come to the right page.Beforethe recent Hollywood renaissance, most tourists who came to Hollywood spentonly a few minutes on Hollywood Boulevard. They went to the Grauman's ChineseTheatre forecourt, looked at the stars' footprints, quickly saw that theBoulevard was not what they imagined it would be, shook their heads andheaded back to their cars, certain that there was nothing much more todo in the area. But they were wrong. Even then,there was actually quite a lot to do on the Boulevard, and a number ofhistoric Hollywood sites to see there, if you know what is availableand where to go.As unlikely as it may seemat first glance, it is possible to spend most of the day on HollywoodBoulevard and have a good time. (If you have the time to seea movie, go inside - the theatre still looks good.) (323) 464-8111 Next,walk a few steps to the west, and visit the new MadameTussaud's wax museum (at6933 Hollywood Boulevard). It'sas close as you're likely to come to rubbing elbows with the stars, an up-close andpersonal interaction with over a hundred incredible likenesses of Hollywood'sbiggest celebs, and a great photo-op. Bring your camera! Youmost likely noticed that there is a huge shopping/entertainment centerright next to Grauman's. This is the Hollywood& Highland Center, which is home to (among other things)the Dolby Theatre (formerly the Kodak Theatre), thepermanent home of the annual Academy Awards show. You can tour thetheatre (for a fee). But even if you opt not to, the center is a cool placeto have lunch, do a little shopping, or just take in the sight of thosegiant elephants!
